Frequently asked questions

The questions actual parents have asked — answered honestly.

Playing

Is it really free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy, nothing to unlock with money, and no account. The game is a passion project.

Do we need to install or sign up?

No. There is nothing to download and no app store — open the page and play. No account, no email address, no password, on a phone, tablet or computer.

What ages is it for?

About 4 to 9. Little ones love the big buttons and the read-aloud stories; older kids read the Level 1–3 books themselves and build bigger sandcastles. The parents' guide goes through it by age.

Which devices work?

Any modern browser on a phone, tablet or laptop made in the last decade or so — Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. The 3D beach uses standard WebGL like most browser games; the rest of the game runs on anything.

Do we need internet to play?

You need a connection to open the site and, the first time you reach the 3D beach, to load its models (one-time, from this server only). After that, playing is on-device: nothing leaves the browser. A warm browser cache may let the page reopen offline, so for car trips we suggest loading the beach once before you go.

Is progress saved?

Yes, in your browser on this device: outfits, the chosen friend, energy and your sandcastle. Progress does not move between devices, and clearing the browser's site data starts fresh.

Can more than one child play on the same device?

They share one save per browser. Many families let each child pick a different friend — Lily, Amara, Mei or Sofia — and take turns.

Books and printing

What books are in the library?

28 free picture books: 18 from StoryWeaver (Pratham Books and partners) and 10 Beatrix Potter classics like The Tale of Peter Rabbit. See the full book list.

Who is the narrator?

The narration is a computer-generated voice, created for this game and used for every page of every book, so children hear the same warm voice throughout.

How do I print the paper dolls?

Download a PDF from the printables page (one per hairstyle), or press "🖨️ Print paper dolls" in the game's wardrobe. Card paper works best.

Can I use the paper dolls in my classroom?

Yes — they're free for personal, family and classroom use. Please link to the printables page rather than re-posting the files.

Privacy and ads

What data does it collect about my kid?

Nothing. The game stores its progress locally in the browser on your own device; there are no accounts, no analytics and no trackers in the game. See the Privacy Policy.

Are there ads?

Never inside the game. The website's information pages (like this one) may show ads in the future to pay for hosting and new content. Because the site is for children, any ads would be non-personalized (contextual) only, and never next to the Play buttons.

Can my child talk to other people in the game?

No. There is no chat, no multiplayer and nothing user-generated.

About the game

Whose artwork is this?

All the art — Lily, the outfits, the beach and the sandcastle — was drawn and modelled originally for this project (Blender and a small SVG pipeline). The game is built on the open-source three.js and Phaser engines, credited on the credits page.

I found a bug or have an idea. Where do I send it?
